Doing What They Can ‘On Investment Basis’: Millersburg’s Housing Stock Is A Council Item

MILLERSBURG – The new owner of the Millersburg Mobile Home Park on South Washington Street met with the council Monday to discuss plans for the property, adding the removal of abandoned trailers.

Eric Vinson shared his hopes for the improvements and his company, CMH Capital, plans to join the South Washington Street mobile home network after receiving a list of court cases from the town over the property, which houses about 70 trailers.

“We’re doing what we can with the funding,” Vinson said. “That’s how we balance our progress there. I know there were some potential aesthetic and safety issues there, and that’s not unusual in cell house parks,” Vincent said. “I think we can paint well in combination to see if we can erase some of those things.

“For the most part, all the safety issues have been resolved and there are still some things we would like to see done before the end of the year,” he continued. “We’re going to work hard for it. “

One of the things he cited was the removal of the caravan that was destroyed in a recent arson attack in the park.

“Now we’re free, with no obligation to tear it down and get rid of it,” Vinson said. “But, again, I can move as fast as our investment allows. We just demolished two houses. “

He added that clearing and cutting the space in case of a fire had moved to the most sensible part of his priority list and the next task was to invest money in the park.

He said the overall goal of CMH Capital, which buys a park of homes for RVs or cell phones, is to make it more beautiful and create value.

“The concept is to do as productively as we can and that’s what we’re looking to do here. It’s a business, and yes, we hope to make money from it,” Vinson said. “It’s not like a general business. We’re talking about other people and their homes, where they live. We’re looking to create an area where there are homes for other people who want them. “

He explained the difference between a deserted space and an uninhabited space.

“It may only take a few thousand dollars and a paint job to provide a home for one family instead of tearing it down and bringing in another,” Vinson said.

Councilmember Brad Conn asked about plans to address some abandoned homes along the park’s trail.

“Before the fire, doing anything in that space near the trail was the number one priority,” Vinson said. “As far as demolition or cleanup efforts go, that would have been the next step. We have other things to do. ” We must take care of it before we can take care of this specific space. It will all depend on funding, which will determine how long you can get there. “

Vinson added that he sees spring as the most likely time to address beautification issues and cleanup efforts.

“I hope there will be more citizens until then,” he said. Ideally, you should remove the burned area by the end of January and then schedule when the area near the trail will be removed. “

He noted that the company had nine evictions coming up this month, in addition to those that were issued last month. There will be 18 empty caravans once the evictions are processed.

People’s Attorney Bob Hines told the council that he thought of Vinson as a man of his word and would do everything he could to make innovations on the property.

“We want to work with him, not necessarily oppose him,” Hines said. “I also want you to come up with some kind of plan, criteria that we can achieve, for example the caravans that want to be demolished. He said he was going to do it, that it’s believable, so now I think you can see it. “”.

In other matters before the council, Millersburg Police Chief Matt Shaner reported that a patrol car was involved in a high-speed chase that ended in the southwest part of the county.

“During the chase, one of the vehicles crashed,” Shaner said. “The officer is fine, there are no injuries, but I was told the vehicle was destroyed. We are waiting for a quote for repairs. It would take until the end of December before the vehicle was repaired.

“An update on our new cruise ship, right now I’m scheduled for the first week of February before they arrive on our new cruise ship,” the leader said. “They said they shouldn’t set this in stone, but that’s where they are. “

Shaner added that the MPD would lead an escort for the Christmas parade in the city on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p. m. from Millersburg Elementary School to the American Legion.

“We’re going to do the escort,” Shaner said. We’ll take the young people from the school to the Legion. We’ll take them through the intersections. “
