November 24 – POINT DE ROUSES – As 3D printing becomes popular, a local company is making its mark on the industry.
3DRPD manufactures prosthetic frames and the paints are state-of-the-art.
“There’s a lot of interest in 3D printing,” said Dave Passino, director of the 3-dRPD plant.
“It’s anything that other people are interested in and we’re local, which is good. “
Headquartered in Montreal, Canada and with operations in Rouses Point, Europe and Australia, 3DRPD® has pioneered the manufacture of detachable frames for cobalt chrome partial dentures with selective laser melting technology, according to its website.
“The 3D printing procedure is used to create three-dimensional portions from a virtual record (STL record). It involves building or solidifying thin layers of curtains to create entire portions. Additive production introduces new design possibilities, adding opportunities to Mix factors in production, minimize the use of curtains and reduce tooling costs.
“By combining unparalleled alloy centers and partnering exclusively with dental labs, the end-to-end 3DRPD virtual workflow, powered by the latest computer-aided design technology, provides dentists and dental labs with the most reliable RPD® on the market so they can provide their patients with an unprecedented degree of comfort and fit.
Passino said the Rouses Point plant is small in terms of the number of people who work there, but there are opportunities.
“Right now we’re all for device technicians, who are someone who delivers our devices and prepares them for the next files,” he said.
“Attention to detail is a wonderful skill and we’re all for other people with a background in mechanics. “
The production procedure of its products is complex. The final product is sent to dental laboratories around the world.
“These are jobs,” Passino said.
“We will also offer competitive benefits and salaries. “
