Two other people were injured after a crane collapsed and crashed into a structure in Edinburgh.
The device fell onto the roof of a structure on Stead’s Place in Leith.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud crack before the crane arm fell.
Several emergency crews were dispatched to the scene and two other people were treated by medics at the scene.
The images show the mutilated remains of the device lying on the roof. And the scaffolding at the base of the structure was shattered due to falling debris.
A witness who witnessed the cave called 911 as soon as it happened.
He told the Scottish Sun: “I was on Leith Walk when I heard this crackling. I looked up and saw the entire crane arm crashing into the building.
“The crane fell and it appears that part of the roof collapsed.
“There would have to be at least a hundred employees there.
“There are all kinds of emergencies here, the whole of Leith Walk has been closed.
“It’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen. “
Workers were seen watching the blue light crews attend to the incident.
Main response units and mobile command posts are believed to have been deployed.
Police closed all nearby roads and alerted other people to the area.
“We won a call at 9:29am to respond to an incident in Leith, Edinburgh.
“We sent two ambulances and our Special Operations Team (SORT) to the scene and two patients to the scene. “
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 9. 30am, the incident was over. On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, we received a report that a crane had collapsed on a structure at Steads Place in Edinburgh.
“Two other people were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel. Leith Walk and Pilrig Street have now reopened.
“The fitness and safety officer has been notified and investigations are ongoing. “
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
