A structure employee was injured after an incident at a multi-million pound wind power plant.
Two ambulance crews were called to the SeAH Wind monopile manufacturing facility on the Teesworks site at lunchtime today and took the injured man to hospital.
A spokesperson for K2 Construction Management, which oversees the project, said: “Today there was an incident that injured a contractor on site. Emergencies were contacted and they temporarily responded to the incident.
“The fitness and safeguarding officer has been informed and a full and thorough investigation will now be carried out into what happened. Our minds remain with him at this time. “
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: “This afternoon we had an incident at 12. 08am at an asset on John Boyle Road, Teesside. We sent two ambulance crews, a clinical team leader, and a doctor. Patient at James Cook Hospital.
Steel structures are currently being built at SeAH Wind, which is expected to be the world’s largest plant for the manufacture of offshore wind monopiles (the huge metal tubes that form the base of the structure of offshore wind turbines) and which has been described as being 14 riverine stadiums long. The plant could begin production in mid-to-late 2024.
