I’m a former Meta recruiter. These are the main perks that appeal to tech staff, and those who don’t seem to care.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Glaze Martillano, a former tech recruiter at Meta who lives in Toronto, about the benefits Meta employees are offered. It’s been edited for length and clarity. 

In my opinion, Meta has one of the best benefits programs in the tech industry. I was a talent-acquisition leader at the company and I hired software engineers from all over Canada and the United States. I’ve even pursued recruits from competitors. Meta’s benefits are a very effective recruitment tool that helps it remain a competitive employer. 

Naturally, people have different priorities regarding which benefits and perks are most important to them. Regular benefits like good medical and dental plans are expected, but Meta’s wellness resources and relocation packages are some of the top perks its employees care about.

Layoffs have reduced many groups in the tech sector, and with fewer hires, corporations want to focus on recruitment marketing and employer branding. The layoffs also allowed for more conversations about pictorial culture and the environment and encouraged leaders to communicate more directly about the team’s plans with candidates.

In my opinion, Meta’s perks and perks are still considered one of the most productive packages on the market. I think Meta has an idea of each and every area of their employees’ lives and created benefits to make sure they feel supported. Here are the 10 most sensible perks that helped me hire tech workers, classified.

Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California, has featured many perks that applicants expect, such as loose meals, laundry service, valet parking, a video game room, a hair salon and other amenities. But many of its painters prefer to work remotely or hybridly, which is why the company also has a generous remote painting policy.

When joining a big tech company, most candidates have high expectations when it comes to healthcare, competitive equity packages, vacations, and bonuses. The candidates aren’t as curious and excited about these benefits because they’re expected to be exceptional, but Meta’s vacation benefits are a great recruitment tool.

The most attractive component of your vacation package is the “top-up” benefit. Meta workers get four weeks of PTO every year. After working at the company for five years, workers can take 30 days of paid leave at a time, in addition to their same old PTO.

The tech company is also offering a $2,000 wellness stipend so its workers can acquire gym equipment, gym membership, and other wellness resources from their remote locations.

These benefits have become especially popular during the pandemic as more employees worked from home. Meta donated $1,000 to remote employees to help them set up a home office.

Another popular perk offered through Meta is its family plans policy. It will offer 4 months of maternity and paternity leave to new fathers. It has also partnered with a company to offer fertility coverage, which allows workers to access fertility. clinics, counselors, and physicians across the United States, as well as a patient care advocate for families with their needs.

Meta offers a 12-week internship program, and many of its interns prefer to live close to headquarters so they can work there and get the most out of the company’s experience. To this end, Meta provides interns with assistance with lodging and transportation services for and from paintings.

Most importantly, interns work on other projects with Meta artists about their personal interests and skills. Meta’s internship program is a short but memorable experience.

The popular generation company has partnered with some other company to relocate its employees and their families, under certain circumstances. The moving company books flights and moving trucks and its new employees study locations and locate resources based on what’s vital to them, whether it’s preschools, grocery stores, or transportation.

The company also provides a point of contact so families can be informed about state legislation and the network they are moving to. I believe the relocation permit is more than enough to allow Meta workers and their families to relocate.

In my opinion, the design of Meta’s bonuses remains competitive. Bonus amounts would have possibly been replaced since the layoffs, but it’s a benefit I’ve used to attract new employees.

The company offers software engineers an eight-week boot camp where they can dive into the company’s code and products. In the past, they would also meet with other teams at the box they wanted to work on. Unlike other big tech companies, Meta wasn’t hiring for an express position.

One of the biggest advantages of running Meta is that, after boot camp, software engineers can decide their own roles, whether it’s with Insta Reels, WhatsApp Payments, Facebook Stories, or some other Meta platform.

Meta offers very competitive inventory systems to its employees, on par with other generation giants. This makes recruitment easier, but applicants expect a robust equity package. This is necessarily the most prominent benefit for new hires, but it’s one of the most important.

In my opinion, the most underutilized benefit offered by Meta is its intellectual fitness aid program. Companies talk about the importance of taking care of intellectual fitness, but there’s still a stigma attached to getting help, so workers don’t deserve it.

Meta offers 24/7 intellectual fitness and counseling at its wellness center. Mental fitness benefits also increase for an employee’s immediate family. For parents who have a child with a learning disability, for example, Meta partners with a company that provides training and arrays

Tech recruitment has undergone big changes, but competing and attracting the most sensible skills requires a smart employer brand, a compelling hiring and marketing strategy, and a strong price proposition. Forty percent of employers say they believe staff leave their jobs for paints for corporations with higher profits. The most productive skill is in demand, so recruiters need a smart strategy to start a conversation.
