National University announces partnership with Jewish Family Service of San Diego to positively impact healthcare outreach for the San Diego underserved community

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 19, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — National University (NU), a minority-serving nonprofit institution that enrolls more than 130,000 students each year through its education and vocational education systems, today announced a partnership with the San Diego Jewish Family Service (JFSSD) to expand the fitness facilities at the National University’s mobile clinics to have a greater effect on the fitness and wellness desires of the San Diego community. This expansion is possible through 2022. $4 million 4-year grant from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)She was a member of the U. S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), in the framework of Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention (NEPQR), in support of the National Nurse Clinic (NUNMC).

The National University’s dedicated mobile clinic, staffed by nurse practitioners and fitness professionals, provides medical services, prescriptions, and lab work to people who are homeless or in need of physical care. The NUN™ initiative uses an interprofessional fitness team strategy through collaborations. with qualified professionals and academics supervised by faculty and supplies at the number one site and behavioral fitness care in San Diego and Los Angeles communities, in agreement with National University clinical affiliates, such as denomination-based communities and faith-based organizations.

Partnering with the City of San Diego’s Safe Parking Program, operated by JFSSD, which provides 4 parking lots in San Diego (6 in total countywide) for individuals living out of their vehicles, will enable expanded healthcare to local underserved communities. This program ensures a safe overnight place and services that guide them toward more permanent housing and through this partnership will also provide healthcare in a safe and secure location.
